To start the new year, I thought it would be best to have a look at the past year’s beauty favourites. I definitely found an array of products that became permanent beauty favourites, and are ones that I would repurchase again and again. Some have been a stern favourite for a few years, others just discovered during the year. Either way I thought I’d share them with you.
Favourite Base/ Foundation:
This one was by far the easiest to choose, given that I’ve only used one foundation for the past few years: Lovely Make Up Brilliance in Morelowy. I don’t think I’ll be straying away from this one anytime soon. Cheap and cheerful, it matches my skin perfectly, and though it may be slightly shimmery, it doesn’t show up on the skin. Velvet like texture, this one is a keeper. However, it’s a polish brand, making it more difficult to get hold off. This where Dr. Jart+ Beauty Balm (Waterfuse) comes into action. Brilliant for those lazy days when you can’t be bothered with a foundation but want some extra coverage. Great for oily skin, and since it has SPF 25 as well as other goodies for the skin. Both products sit on the skin nicely, it doesn’t look like you anything on when wearing them.
Another easy one: Bourjois Delice de Poudre, shade 52. Though the packaging is made out of cardboard (forgive the grubbiness), you really can’t judge a book by its cover. The product is what counts, and this product definitely delivers. It’s impossible to put too much on (great if you have a heavy hand), it delivers a lovely sun kissed look. And it smells great too.
Mascara these days are flippin’ expensive. And given that I’m quite picky in what I want in a mascara, this one has been tough. But I think my favourite must be Natural Collection’s Lash Definition Mascara (both the black and dark brown). It does exactly what it says on the tin: it defines your lashes. It doesn’t clump, and although it may not be volumizing, I prefer the natural look personally, so this one is a winner. And its cheap too. Can’t really go wrong for £2.
Towards the end of 2012, I stopped wearing eyeliner as much, but YSL’s L’eyeliner Noir wins hands down. A small, precise tip makes application super easy. And it doesn’t smudge as quickly as other liquid eyeliners.
Favourite Brow Product:
Rimmel’s Professional eyebrow pencil in dark brown takes this one. No questions asked.
Favourite Lip product:
The best bright lipstick is a tie between MAC’s Crosswires (wore this all summer long) and Rimmel’s Kate Moss lipstick in Kiss of Life – the perfect red. Best everyday lipstick must be Chanel’s Rouge Cocoshine in Fettiche (52) – the perfect your lips but better colour. For lip balm, its another tie between Blistex’s Intensive Moisturiser, and Nuxe’s Reve de Miel. Both are amazing in healing chapped lips in no time.
Another easy one. This goes to Juicy Couture’s Viva La Juicy. My bottle is almost finished! The perfect summer scent, sort of reminds me of a pina colada. Yum. Davidoff’s Cool Water for women is another favourite. Citrusy goodness!
