Golden Globes: Favourite Makeup Looks

Yesterday was the 70th Golden Globes Awards, and alongside celebrating the creme de la creme in film and television, it was the first red carpet event of 2013. So, time to get a look at what makeup and beauty looks (as well as fashion; next post) the celebrities are sporting. Here are some of my favourites.

1) Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried went for a minimal look, sporting a soft, smokey eye and light, rosy pink lips. I think what stole the show for me, is her hair. It just looks so luscious and healthy. Not at all done up or over top. I prefer the undone look, and Seyfried nails it with this makeup look.

2) Clare Danes

Opting for a rather more sultry look, Clare Danes looks effortless and chic. Keeping the rest of the makeup plain, she plays up the eyes with your classic, black smokey eye. But because it doesn’t go too low underneath the eyes, she avoids the dreaded panda look. Paired with ever-so-slightly tousled hair, she looks great.

3) Anne Hathaway

Perhaps, undoubtedly the simplest of all the makeup looks, Anne Hathaway went for a ‘no-makeup-makeup’. But it works. Together with her pixie crop and white, beaded strapless dress from Chanel’s 2009 Spring/Summer Haute Couture Collection, this ultra minimal look ties everything together seamlessly.

4) Jessica Alba

Finally, a bright lip! Jessica Alba pulls of this bright, orange pout brilliantly. The orange lip is balanced out by the light brown, smokey eye and contour. It’s a great summer look (queue inspiration for summer!) and something different from the other looks. The orange lip compliments the pastel orange, almost salmon-hued dress by Oscar de la Renta, perfectly.

5) Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

There weren’t many actresses who opted for a red lip at yesterday’s Golden Globe Awards. Out of the few that did, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s was by far my favourite. Wearing a wash of red lipstick with slight brown undertones, it’s the perfect autumn/winter colour and has definitely sparked a search for something similar. Together with her long, straight locks, she looks like a million dollars. This is probably, my favourite look out of the bunch.

What about you?
