Golden Globes: The Dresses

The looks adorned on the red carpet at the 70th Golden Globes this past sunday, were amazing. As always, there were some hit and misses, but I thought I’d share as promised, some of my favourite looks, enjoy!

1) Jessica Alba

I’ve recently become obsessed by Jessica Alba’s fun and colourful street style, and her red carpet looks are no exception. Rocking an amazing light orange, salmon-hued mermaid dress by Oscar de la Renta. Although, I’m perhaps not the biggest fan of her fluffy clutch, her cascading ombre curls and decadent jewels worth a whopping $5.8 million by Harry Winston… she looked amazing.

2) Jennifer Lawrence

Not only did Jennifer Lawrence win Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings (which, I still haven’t seen!!), her vividly, bright red dress by Dior also dominated much chatter on twitter and other social media outlets. And it’s definitely easy to see why. Please trade lives? No…?

3) Jennifer Lopez

Whether you love or hate this dress, it without question, turns heads. Wearing a white, sheer, lacey number by Zuhair Murad, J-Lo oozes confidence. The slight mermaid-esque style to the bottom half of the dress, hugs her in the right places. Not a dress for the faint-hearted of us.

4) Rachel Weisz

Given that she’s married to Bond (Daniel Craig, if you didn’t know), Rachel Weisz has no excuse not to look god-damn sexy and sophisticated. A look she delivers with her sheer, polka dotted Louis Vuitton dress. I like the fact that even though she’s wearing a to-the-floor gown, the bottom half is sheer, showing off her great legs, killer shoes and making it fun and different from your usual black-dress-for-the-red-carpet attire.

5) Kate Hudson

This McQueen dress Kate Hudson pulls of brilliantly, and is without-doubt my favourite of the lot. It has everything you could possibly want for a red-carpet look. Not only is it a mermaid cut, the gold detailing, the high neck, the no-so-subtle peekaboo cut away: Kate Hudson brings old-school hollywood glamour to the modern world with renewed vitality. Her entire look cannot be faulted.

6) Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Lastly, but by no means least, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s dress was by Saint Laurent, and though some have said she tried to an “angelina”, it cannot be denied that she looks elegant and glamorous. The thigh-split nods a head to the raging fashion trend of the moment, Rosie’s attire is red carpet perfection.

What were your favourite looks for the 70th Golden Globes?

(A honourable mention; Bradley Cooper in Tom Ford, this man can do no wrong)
